Starting with the basics – WP design.

I’ve spent the afternoon typing the code for the current theme to this blog. Do themes come simpler than this? It’s the result of following all the WordPress theme tutorials written by Small Potato on his WPDesign site. He has done a brilliant job of teaching the basics.

Word Press themes are modular with key templates generating and setting the whole look of the blog i.e. the theme. The coding (perhaps too grand a word for it) is demystified by Small Potato. He makes it simple to see how it’s all constructed. By the last lesson I was getting things right without looking.

I’m glad to be getting something from doing the blog again. I feel satisfied that though the theme is a straight result of the tutorials I’ve *sewn* it all together myself.
